Dr Who 2005
Growing up in the 70's and 80's I can remember many days that my father, brother and I would all sit down around the tele with our dinner and watch Dr Who. Talk about good memories. Bad special effects and a shoestring budget for the show made it what it was to us. A time for bonding. Now that I am all grown up and have my own family I find my self repeating history with a brand new Dr Who.
After going off the airwaves over 15 years ago to the sadness of many I am sure. The Dr is back and even better. I have to say that here recently there has been an influx of remakes as far as the entertainment industry goes. Many that can never live up to the original and some that are about a 1000 times better. Don't get me wrong the original Dr Who was a good show but the new Dr Who is so much better with the new technology that is available and not to mention the Dr is just better looking.
Being a fan of the original series I thought I would give this one a try and see how it matched up to the original. I have to say that I am very happy with the outcome. I really enjoyed watching each episode and could not wait to see the next one.
Episode 1:Rose
This is the first episode of season 1. In this episode the Dr has the pleasure of meeting Rose and turning her life upside down. It seems that everything that is plastic is being controlled and coming alive to destroy the earth. Once again the Earth is in danger and don't even know as the Dr saves the day.
2:The End Of The World
I really liked this episode this is the episode where the Dr shows Rose what she can have if she travels with him. He takes her way into the future and shows her the destruction of the earth way in the future.
3:The Unquiet Dead
This episode was quite disturbing for me as the dead were being possessed by demons of some sort.
4:Aliens Of London
Once again The Dr saves the Earth from destruction at the hands evil aliens hell bent on destroying.
5:World War 3
6:Dalek
I was so glad to see the enemies from past are still the enemies of today. I can so remember watching every week to see if the Dr was going to destroy The Dalek. Some things require no change.
7:The Long Game
8:Fathers Day
This episode really touched my heart. Rose was given the chance to meet her father and see that he did not die alone. Such a touching episode.
9:The Empty Child
This was one strange episode. It takes place in the past during the bombing of World War 2 I believe. There is a child that runs around begging for his mommy to let him in. Very disturbing as no one likes to hear a child cry like that.
10:The Dr Dances
11:Boom Town
This was a great episode. In this one old enemies are given a second chance. I really like this one as it shows that every one and every thing deserves a second chance.
12:Bad Wolf
13:The Parting Of The Ways
As I watched this episode not quite sure of what to expect I was given the shock that makes Dr Who what it is. The changing of the Dr. I really liked this episode it had me on the edge of my seat clapping my hands and in the next scene I was crying like a baby.
This is a great show. I was very happy with it and was very impressed to see what current technology can do for such a show. The original was a great show just way before its time perhaps. I am glad that this remake lived up to my greatest expectation and then some.
I would recommend this if your a sci fi buff or just like to watch a good sci fi show on occassion. The special effects are really wonderful as some of the places that they visit are really just beyond imagination.
