Forbidden Magic
The cover of Cheyenne McCray's newest novel Forbidden Magic brings to mind magic, mystery, mystical phenomena. Serpents entwine a fine-boned wrist. Long legs are encased in high-heeled shoes. Magic and mystery reign supreme in this novel, setting this award-winning author far above the rest.
Silver Ashcroft is a witch. Tuatha warrior Hawk falls for her at first sight, but he's got a mission to do. This paranormal romance is filled with magic, mystery, and even some misery along the way.
Heavy shadows shroud the reader until they are ready to part the veil and enter this premiere new world-after that they won't wish to leave.
The magic gives a nice touch to the plot, although the dialogue is rather stilted and forced, the characters not very believable or memorable. Both these aspects cut into the flow of the plot.
The imagery creates awesome, very prosaic pictures in the reader's mind, as they get sucked into Silver and Hawk's world.
A bit more narration for the characters, as well as better descriptions and some changes in dialogue would improve upon the plot.
Although parts of the book sound too forced and the flow is all wrong for the plot, the imagery and plot of this novel make it one worth reading.
