If You Want to Write - review
Brenda Ueland will inspire you to take the desire to write and run with it. If you think can‘t write, this book will tell you why you‘re wrong. It is NOT about grammar, punctuation, spelling or any standard rules of writing. Also, it is not just about writing. She’s referring to anything we make or do with love and enthusiasm. It IS about finding your source of ideas and answering the question, “What am I going to write about?” for yourself. The author shares her knowledge of how to generate ideas and how to speak from your true self in sentences that are honest and alive. Plainly, she explains why we should live creatively regardless of what anyone else has to say about it. It’s great encouragement for those of us who are thin-skinned and fear criticism. In fact, she doesn’t think much of critics in general, but does admire William Blake and Vincent Van Gogh and offers great insights on them. If you’re interested in the law of attraction, it can be spotted in her book though she doesn’t mention it specifically. This is one I’ll be coming back to for encouragement. Ueland’s energy is contagious!
