The Man In The High Castle by Philip K Dick Book Review
The Man In The High Castle by Philip K Dick is an alternate history book. It describes a world where Germany and Japan win World War Two.
The Man In The High Castle by Philip K Dick takes place in 1962. Victorious Japan and Germany have divided the United States between the two nations. The Book focuses on Americans in a Japan-controlled zone and their efforts to get on with their lives and, quite willingly, assimilate into Japanese culture.
Philip K Dick is a master of alternate reality and asking the question of what really is real? Such philosophical questions reoccur throughout the book as Americans, or former-Americans I should say, struggle with their own fragile identities and beliefs.
The Man in the High Castle is very believable. The means that Japan and Germany achieve victory is convincing. He layers the story with his trademark reality questions that gives a fascinating, yet very easy to read story-line.
