Pale Horse Coming

Stephen Hunter spins an exciting and pulse pounding tale about World War Two hero and veteran Earl Swagger, a rough and tumble Arkansas law man. When an old friend gets wrapped up in something big down South, it's Earl who has to come and get him out, nearly getting killed in the process. Earl manages to escape death, and prison, only to gather up some friends and head back. This is an appealing mix of modern conspiracy themes, such as the Bourne series, and good old western. For those who have seen the movie "Shooter", it's easy to see where Bob Lee Swagger (Yes, he IS the son of this books hero) came from. Though parts of this book are incredibly unbelievable, it still makes for a great read, and you can almost see the movie in your head. I strongly recommend this book.
